Evaluating Your Chiropractor’s Experience

Before visiting a Union City chiropractor for the first time, or switching chiropractors, you should always fully evaluate their experience and qualifications. Chiropractic care is safe and effective when performed by experienced, licensed chiropractors in a clinical setting. At ChiroSports USA, our chiropractor Dr. Abdollah Nejad has undergone extensive education, training, and hands-on experience in the decades he has been a chiropractor. Here are some tips for evaluating your chiropractor’s experience to ensure you’re getting safe, effective chiropractic care.

Review Their Education & Training

In order to become a chiropractor, you need to complete seven to eight years of college - four years of undergraduate study and three to five years at a chiropractic college. You must complete at least 4,200 instructional hours of course credits. In your final year of chiropractic college, you must complete a clinical internship in a chiropractor’s office and treat patients under the supervision of an experienced chiropractor. You can also complete a clinical rotation at a hospital or veteran’s clinic. Before choosing a chiropractor, you can confirm that they completed the required education and training at an accredited college or university. Dr. Nejad earned his doctor of chiropractic degree from Palmer West Chiropractic College, the first and largest chiropractic college in the United States.

Verify Their License

As with medical doctors, chiropractors must pass an examination and become licensed. The National Board of Chiropractic Examiners administers a four-part test that all chiropractors must pass in order to apply for a license. After passing the exam, a chiropractor must undergo a criminal background check, pass a state-level exam, and provide a list of personal references. They must also earn continuing education credits each year to maintain their license. You can confirm your chiropractor’s license with the California Board of Chiropractic Examiners.

Evaluate Their Specialties & Certifications

In addition to earning their doctor of chiropractic degree, chiropractors can also earn postdoctoral diplomate certifications as well as subspecialties like acupuncture and radiology. They can also earn certifications in niche disciplines. Ask your chiropractor to confirm their specialties and certifications before hiring them.

Review Their Staff

In addition to your chiropractor, you should also find out what other services are offered by their staff. For instance, some chiropractors have additional medical specialists on staff to assist and provide specialized services. At ChiroSports USA, our staff includes a wellness coordinator, three massage therapists, and four chiropractic assistants to serve our patients.
